It is my privilege that BT Defence is a signatory of the Women in Defence Charter. The Defence mission is incredibly important to BT, and we see ourselves as a National Champion. So we must be part of this inspiring community that challenges us to go further.
We share many of the values of Defence itself, and the partners and members of Women in Defence UK; and we must get better at recruiting, retaining, and providing growth opportunities for women. We could hide behind some data which tells us about Technology industry norms, or the low levels of female representation in the Defence ecosystem. But we will not. Our diversity must improve. Not just in gender, although this is a key area. I am delighted that we have a range of initiatives in place for our own organisation and to support the wider network. Together, we will achieve great outcomes for our business – and most importantly for our customers.
Let us celebrate the progress to date, and recognise the inspiring achievements of the women that we have in our teams right now. And then let’s keep going further!
