Women in Defence UK announces new International Award - Ukrainian Servicewomen honoured as Inaugural Recipients
Women in Defence UK is proud to announce the launch of its new International Award, created to recognise exceptional contributions by women in the defence of their own country rather than the UK. This year, we are privileged to present the inaugural award to the distinguished women serving their country as part of the war in Ukraine, acknowledging their remarkable bravery, resilience, and dedication amid the ongoing conflict in their homeland.
The award was officially presented during a ceremony attended by key dignitaries, including His Majesty’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Mr Martin Harris CMG OBE, who handed over the prestigious accolade on behalf of Women in Defence UK. Ukrainian servicewomen, representing their nation's armed forces, were commended for their extraordinary efforts in defending their country while breaking barriers and inspiring a generation of women worldwide.
