Meet the judges: Caitlin Percy 

Caitlin Percy, Woman of the Year 2021

Cait Percy is responsible for Emerging Technology within the British Defence Staff in the United States, working to identify and develop collaborative opportunities bilaterally between the US and UK, and with other international partners within Science and Technology. Cait Percy was awarded Woman of the Year 2021, as an Emerging Talent and for her passion for technology collaboration. She is an advocate for a diverse and inclusive defence sector.

She graduated with a Masters in Physics with Space Science from the University of Southampton and attended the International Space University Space Studies Program in Montreal, Canada. Her early career was in defence industry with BAE Systems and its partners, specialising in technology strategy and innovation, and in the research domain bringing together experts from multiple sectors across the company and externally to progress future sensing technologies. While there she led groups supporting new professionals from across industry to innovate and channel their skills and passion for technology into productive outputs. Cait worked in the Woman in Defence UK team, before joining the Civil Service in 2022, starting on advanced capability development at RAF Headquarters before joining the British Defence Staff, US.

She is a lifetime fellow of the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange and is working towards her Chartered status to cement herself as someone who is qualified, capable, and passionate about building environments to better exploit cutting edge technologies to position the UK as a leader in its field and as an excellent partner for our allies.
