What will the judges be looking for?
The judges will be looking for examples of where an individual has shown true determination to overcome real adversity. This could include continued difficulty related to business, environment or culture, or experienced in their personal life.
Finalists from earlier years
Last year’s finalists were from the RAF, the Army and Thales. The winner was recognised for helping to set up the Defence Domestic Abuse Survivors Community and Network for the RAF, and for being a role model by showing what woman can overcome and then achieve both personally and professionally. The winner of this category went on to become our Woman of the Year 2024. The other finalists were nominated for serving flawlessly and supporting others whilst battling extreme adversity in her own personal life; for overcoming adversity to complete an apprentice scheme, with distinction, to now work as a key systems engineer working on complex SONAR systems for Thales.
Who can be entered?
This award is open to individual women only. Please note winners of any category are excluded from nominations for any Women in Defence UK awards for 2 years.
